A man who has been traced safe and well after he was reported missing in the Highlands has told search teams he was unaware of concerns for his safety.

Neill McCawley, 73, from Worcester, was reported missing on Sunday.

Police, an RAF helicopter, mountain rescue team members, dogs and fellow walkers carried out searches of Glendessary in Lochaber.

Northern Constabulary said Mr McCawley was traced in the nearby Kinlochourn area on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said he told his rescuers that he underestimated the difficulty of the walk and the route, which resulted in him having to camp for longer than he had originally anticipated.
