New £8m Sutherland hospital officially opened

The new £8m Migdale Hospital in Sutherland has been officially opened by Public Health Minister Michael Matheson.

The new facility in Bonar Bridge has replaced a 150-year-old hospital in the village and provides 22 beds in two units.

The new hospital opened to patients in summer 2011.

The Scottish government has also highlighted other planned investment in NHS Highland facilities.

It includes a new £5m health centre in Tain and new specialist radiotherapy equipment for Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
