Michael Laverty drove at 120mph on A9 while drunk

A man has admitted driving at 120mph while three-and-a-half times over the drink-drive limit.

Michael Laverty, 39, of Rutherglen, Glasgow, was detected speeding on the A9 at Daviot on 10 June.

Appearing at Inverness Sheriff Court, Laverty pleaded guilty to speeding and driving with a blood alcohol count of 124mgs when the legal limit is 35mgs.

Sheriff Margaret Neilson deferred sentence until 11 October for a background report.
