About 200 soldiers from 19th Regiment Royal Artillery, the Highland Gunners, have taken part in a homecoming parade in Inverness later.

The Wiltshire-based regiment returned to the UK last month following their deployment to Afghanistan.

The gunners operated on foot and in armoured Jackals in Helmand Province and also trained Afghan police and army personnel.

The regiment was given the freedom of Inverness in 1999.

It recruits from the Highlands and also Grampian, Argyll, Tayside, Fife, and central Scotland.
