Man banned for causing A82 death crash

A motorist who admitted causing the death of a motorcyclist while banned from driving and uninsured has been banned from driving for two years.

Duncan Stewart had earlier pleaded guilty to the offence on the A82 between Spean Bridge and Fort William.

Charles Singleton, who was 74 and from Kettering, Northamptonshire, died after the collision at Achnabobane on 8 May last year.

Stewart, from Spean Bridge, was also given 300 hours community service.

He was sentenced at Fort William Sheriff Court.

The crash happened only a few weeks before he was due to get his licence back following a 15 month ban.
