Woman injured in Western Isles cliff fall

A 67-year-old woman has been airlifted from a Western Isles beach after falling 8m (20ft) over a cliff.

The woman was walking when she fell at Borve on the west side of Lewis.

The alarm was raised at 11:20 and 15 members of Ness and Stornoway coastguard rescue teams went to the woman's aid.

She was put in a stretcher and carried to a location from where she could be airlifted by Stornoway Coastguard helicopter.

The woman was flown to Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway. Her condition was not known.
