Man punched after leaving train at Nairn

Police have appealed for information after a man was badly injured in an unprovoked attack after stepping off a train at Nairn railway station.

The 40-year-old, who had travelled from Elgin, was punched by another man, causing him to fall and hit his head.

He was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness following the incident at about 19:15 on 16 March. He was treated for injuries to his head and face.

British Transport Police has appealed for witnesses.

PC Matt O'Neill said CCTV footage from the station would be reviewed in an effort to trace the man's attacker.
