A man has been airlifted to hospital after his canoe capsized on a Highland loch.

The RNLI Oban lifeboat was called to Loch Leven where a member of the public had reported an upturned canoe two miles from Kinlochleven at 14:30.

Rescue teams from Fort William and Appin also assisted with the operation.

A coastguard spokeswoman said the man had held onto his canoe before being rescued.

He was winched up to the helicopter, which was called to the scene from RAF Lossiemouth, before being taken to Belford Hospital in Fort William.
