Armed police called to siege in Inverness

Armed police officers were called out to the Raigmore estate in Inverness at the weekend to deal with a siege which lasted more than eight hours.

Police cordoned off the Mackintosh Road area just after 22:00 on Saturday, after reports of what they described as a disturbance.

A spokesman said trained negotiators resolved the issue at about 06:30 on Sunday without any risk to the public.

Four people - three men and a woman - were detained by police.

The men aged 26, 28 and 38 are expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court in connection with the incident.
