Football fans 'threw cans' on Dingwall to Inverness train

About 30 football fans threw cans of alcohol and stood on tables on a train as it travelled from Dingwall to Inverness, police have said.

The incident happened between 22:25 and 23:00 on 25 October following a derby game between Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

British Transport Police (BTP) said its officers hoped to indentify those involved from CCTV footage.

The images were recorded on the train and at Dingwall and Inverness stations.

Sgt Kevin Lawrence has appealed for information about the incident.

He said: "Others on the train, who should be able to travel without encountering this sort of behaviour, have said they were disgusted by the actions of their fellow supporters.

"I would urge anyone who can assist the investigation to contact BTP as a matter of urgency."
