A 30-year-old man has appeared in court accused of raping a child in Avoch, in the Black Isle, in the Highlands.

It is alleged Steven Jacobs raped the girl on various occasions between September 1995 and October 2001.

He faces separate charges of using lewd and libidinous practices towards the girl and abusing another girl during the same dates.

Mr Jacobs, who appeared for a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow, denies the allegations.

He is expected to stand trial in January.
