Climber dies in hospital after fall in Cairngorms

A climber has died in hospital after falling in the Cairngorms, police have said.

The emergency services were alerted to the incident at Fingers Ridge in the Coire an t-Sneachda area at about 10:30 on Sunday.

Police Scotland said the man had been alone on his climb.

Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, an RAF search and rescue helicopter and police searched for the fallen climber. He was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital.

Police said the man was in a critical condition and died of his injuries at the hospital in Inverness.
