Cyclist in crash on A9 at Golspie 'serious but stable'

A cyclist has been receiving hospital treatment after the bike she was riding with a three-year-old child onboard was involved in a collision with a van.

The 38-year-old was taken by air ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness following the incident on the A9 at Golspie in Sutherland.

The child and the van driver were unhurt in the crash, which occurred at about 13:00 on Friday.

Police said the woman was in a "serious but stable" condition in hospital.

The A9 was closed for five hours while police carried out investigations at the scene of the incident.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
