Tributes paid to former Invergordon pupil Kevin MacIver

Tributes have been paid to a 19-year-old man who died after a crash involving his car and a lorry.

Kevin MacIver, from Invergordon, was the driver of a Vauxhall Corsa which was in collision with a HGV.

The crash happened on the B9175 Arabella to Nigg Road, at Bayfield, at about 18:15 last Thursday.

Alison Drew, head teacher at Invergordon Academy where Mr MacIver was a pupil, said he had been a "fantastic role model" at school.

She said he left the academy in 2012 to take up an apprenticeship with Isleburn Engineering.

Ms Drew said: "He loved his new job and had great plans around his career.

"Kevin contributed a huge amount to the life of the school. He was a house captain and a community sports leader.

"He was someone who would volunteer to help others and a fantastic role model for younger pupils."

She added: "He was a young man who helped and encouraged others and had a real sense of community. Kevin was well regarded and well-liked by pupils and staff.

"Invergordon Academy is a close knit community and we have been supportive of each other at this difficult time."
