Children rescued after fire at flats in Inverness

Members of the public helped to rescue two children from a property in Inverness after a fire broke out in the stairwell of a block of flats.

Firefighters arrived at the scene in Torvean Avenue as the youngsters were being helped to escape through a window of a first floor flat.

The Scottish fire service and police have launched an investigation into the cause of Friday night's blaze.

The emergency services were alerted to the incident at about 23:01.
