A Buddhist group has proposed building a new international retreat on the shores of Loch Ness.

The group, Kagyu Samye, already has a monastery and centre at Eskdalemuir in Dumfriesshire.

Danish-born Gelongma Zangmo, Britain's first female lama, is involved with the Highland project.

She said Loch Ness offered the "required peace and tranquillity" for a Buddhist retreat. The group is assessing potential locations.
