Highland Council set to build more homes

Highland councillors have agreed to increase the number of homes the local authority plans to build.

The council's construction programme now involves 512 new homes, instead of the 392 agreed in January.

Councillors have also given the go-ahead for the purchase of properties in Academy Street in Inverness.

It is planned to convert the buildings into 14 units for affordable rent and 17 units to be developed by Highland Housing Alliance.
