Horse play: Ullapool 'Unicorns' visit protected woods
Woodland Trust Scotland has held an event in its Ledmore and Migdale woods in Sutherland featuring mythical "unicorns".
The protected woodland near Spinningdale includes an area where native pine forest is being restored.
The three horses were brought to the woodland from Ullapool to help tell a fairytale about a fairy queen. More than 70 people turned up for the event on Saturday, Midsummer's Day.
Tiffany Fraser, from Dornoch, who attended the event with her daughters, said: "My youngest has not stopped talking about the unicorns."
The Heritage Lottery Fund and Eon Rosehall Community Fund supported the event.
Horses have played a key role in the woods in the past.
In 2012, Tarzan, a five-year-old Comtois from Rogart, hauled the logs from the woodland's Migdale Rock Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The horse cause less damage to rare plants than modern forest machinery.
About 80 people gathered to watch Tarzan at work.
