Three rescued after dinghy capsizes on East Loch Tarbert

A man and his two children were rescued after their sailing dinghy capsized in a Western Isles loch.

A member of the public on shore dialled 999 to report the incident at East Loch Tarbert on Harris at about 15:30 on Saturday.

The caller told Stornoway Coastguard that three people were on top of the upturned dinghy.

A coastguard helicopter attended but the trio were picked up by a local boat and taken ashore.

A member of the coastguard was also on shore. No-one required medical treatment.
