Man jailed for abusing girls in Fort William, Inverness and Oban

A 45-year-old man has been jailed for five years for sexually abusing three girls.

Colin MacDonald was 11 years old when he targeted his first victim, who was 10, at an address in Fort William.

Over a six-year period, he also raped and abused her at locations in Inverness, where he also started assaulting a nine-year-old girl.

MacDonald, from Perth, also repeatedly abused a girl in the Oban area. He denied the charges.

He claimed he was a "victim of a conspiracy".

MacDonald was found guilty by a jury before judge Lord Jones at the High Court in Edinburgh last month. He has been jailed at the same court.

One of the girls was assaulted on occasions between 1981 and 1987 and the others between 1981 and 1983 and 1988 and 1991.

MacDonald denied the charges, stating that his victims, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were guilty of conspiring against him.
