Walk-in freezer test for Inverness runner

A former Commonwealth Games cyclist plans to prepare for a four-day race on foot by spending time inside walk-in commercial freezers.

Roddy Riddle, from Inverness, completed a marathon in the Sahara Desert in 2013.

His next challenge will involve temperatures as low as -30 degrees above the Arctic Circle in Sweden in February next year.

The Ice Ultra uses the Kungsleden trail and Unesco-protected snowfields.

Mr Riddle, who has type one diabetes, hopes to use commercial cold stores to help him prepare for the freezing conditions expected during the marathon.
