Soldier's mislaid kit bag causes trouble for evacuated residents

A soldier's mislaid kit bag caused a number of homes in a part of Inverness to be evacuated after concerns that it might be a suspicious package.

Police cordoned off an area near the city's Cameron Barracks at about 08:04 after Military Police spotted the bag.

The bag was found not to be suspicious and was later claimed by a soldier who had mislaid it.

In a statement, Police Scotland thanked residents involved for their patience and co-operation during the incident.
