Police appeal after child approached by man near school

Police in Inverness have appealed for information after a man approached a young child and tried to speak to them near a primary school in Inverness.

Police said the youngster responded in the correct way and the man made no attempt to engage with them or any other pupils.

The incident happened near Drakies Primary at about 15:15 on Monday.

The school has held special assemblies and sent letters to parents to make them aware of the incident.

Police said the man was described as being between 30 and 40 years old, about 5ft 6in tall, white with facial stubble.

He was wearing a black beanie hat, brown zipped jacket and blue jeans.
