School buses skid off roads on Benbecula and Lewis
Two school buses carrying pupils came off roads in separate incidents on the Western Isles during wintry conditions.
A bus slid off the road at Torlum on Benbecula and a smaller mini bus came off at Uig on Lewis.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar said no one was seriously hurt in the incidents on Friday morning.
Some parents have criticised the comhairle for the state of the roads. The local authority said the road in the Torlum accident had been gritted.
A spokesperson said: "In both cases it appears that the road conditions were not good and unfortunately the buses slid off the road.
"Thankfully no-one was seriously hurt and alternative arrangements were made to transport the pupils to school.
"We will continue to gather information on both incidents."
