Family moves into FCS's first Highland starter-farm

A family has moved into the Forestry Commission Scotland's first starter-farm in the Highlands.

Sandy and Kirsteen Douglas have taken up a 10-year lease on woodland and rough grazing at Achnamoine, near Halkirk in Caithness.

The FCS initiative aims to encourage new entrants into the farming industry.

The commission has previously launched starter-farms in Fife, Ayrshire, Stirlingshire, Aberdeenshire and Dumfriesshire.
