The RNLI has released images of a six-hour operation to rescue a fishing boat that got into difficulty off Montrose on Thursday.

The crew of the Stornoway-registered Prevail raised the alarm at about 03:00 when the vessel was about 31 miles east of Montrose.

Aberdeen Coastguard was alerted after the boat's emergency beacon was activated.

A helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth was initially called out.

The Montrose lifeboat towed the boat into Montrose harbour.
