Arrest over assault on Conservative candidate's son
A man is to appear in court over an alleged assault on the son of a Conservative Party candidate.
The 50-year-old is accused of attacking the son of Edward Mountain, who is standing in the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey seat in the general election.
Mr Mountain said his son was assaulted by a SNP supporter while he was staffing a Conservative campaign stall.
The alleged attack happened on Saturday in Inverness.
The man was expected to appear in Inverness Sheriff Court in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson from the SNP said: "We condemn any such behaviour and send Mr Mountain's son our good wishes.
"It is quite properly a matter for the court to deal with."
