Turriff firm fined after worker's death in Inverness

A Turriff-based transport firm has been fined £80,000 after admitting safety failures which led to an employee's death at an Inverness grain depot.

Andrew Harrald, 33, from Ardross, was buried under tons of animal feed being tipped from his lorry at the Longman Industrial Estate in February 2011.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard it was the second time an employee of Transpan Scotland Ltd had died in this way.

The firm had earlier pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety rules.
