Man arrested after seven-hour incident at hotel in Muir of Ord

A man has been arrested following an incident at a Highland hotel which lasted for more than seven hours.

Several police cars and two fire engines were sent to the Tarradale Hotel in Muir of Ord, Ross-shire, at about 14:15 on Friday.

The area was cordoned off while police dealt with a "disturbance" in the building which officers said "posed no risk to the public".

A police spokesman said at 22:30 that a 37-year-old man had been arrested.

He added: "Officers would like to thank the local community of Muir of Ord for their patience following a police incident earlier today.

"A 37-year-old man is now in custody in relation to the incident, which was contained."
