Man and woman injured in disturbance in Fort William

Two people have been injured in a disturbance near Fort William that is understood to have involved a chainsaw.

A 49-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the incident at a property at Glenkingie Street in Caol on Tuesday.

A 73-year-old man is in a critical but stable condition in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, said Police Scotland.

A woman in her 60s was treated at Belford Hospital in Fort William before being released later.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at about 20:30.

Police Scotland said: "The public in the local community are thanked for their patience and understanding whilst the matter was dealt with by officers."
