Man who threatened to burn down Muir of Ord hotel jailed

A man who has admitted to threatening to burn down a hotel during a seven-hour siege has been jailed for six months.

Andrew McHattie, 37, also admitted other charges including behaving in a threatening manner and lunging at police while brandishing a hammer.

The offences happened at the Tarradale Hotel in Muir of Ord on 3 June.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard Mr McHattie, of Munlochy, has a history of mental health issues.
