Male pedestrian dies after collision on A9 near Dornoch

A male pedestrian has died after being struck by a van on the A9 near Dornoch.

Officers were called to the scene, just north of the Dornoch Bridge, at about 02:30. They said the man died from injuries sustained in a collision.

The road was closed in both directions, with diversions in place, for almost 12 hours.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw a pedestrian on the A9 in the early hours of the morning to contact them.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "Inquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone who saw a man walking on or near the road last night or the early hours of this morning to contact 101."
