Police Scotland have renewed an appeal for help in tracing a woman and her 12-year-old son who have gone missing from the Balintore area of Easter Ross.

Officers said 54-year-old Sandra Element and Aiden Hoggard were last seen at about 08:45 on Monday 8 May in the town's Main Street.

They were reported missing at 14:00 on the afternoon of Friday 12 May.

Police said there was increasing concern for the pair and have appealed to Ms Element to get in touch.

She is described as being about 5ft 5in tall and of a slim build, with brown hair and was dressed in black.

Aiden is described as being about 4ft tall with a slim build and a pale face. He was carrying a black rucksack.

Insp Jamie Wilson said: "As time goes by, we are naturally increasingly concerned for Sandra and Aiden and we would ask that anyone who may have information as to where they are get in touch with us as soon as possible.

"We believe they may have connections in England and may have travelled using public transport."
