Man rescued after kayak overturns
A man has been rescued after his kayak overturned off the north west coast of Scotland.
Members of the public reported seeing an upturned kayak in Clashnessie Bay near Lochinver at about 13:30 on Saturday.
RNLI Lochinver Lifeboat and a coastguard helicopter from Stornoway responded and the man was winched to safety off rocks at 14:15.
He was taken to Western Isles Hospital for checks.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the rescue had been a multi-agency effort.
A spokesperson said: "Having been in the water for 30 minutes, the kayaker was able to pull himself onto nearby rocks.
"He was wearing a dry suit with buoyancy aid which protected him from the elements.
"He was cold and tired when we arrived on scene but very pleased to see us."
