The University of Aberdeen's master of chapel and ceremonial music is retiring after more than 1,500 weddings and 375 graduation ceremonies.

Renowned organist Dr Roger Williams MBE joined the university as a lecturer in the music department in 1978.

Dr Williams said he had enjoyed a "wonderful and rewarding" experience.

His work will draw to a close with an organ recital at King's College Chapel on Tuesday night in aid of the victims of the Pakistan floods.

Dr Williams, who lives near Oldmeldrum, intends to continue performing and furthering his academic research.
