Two people treated following 'suspicious' Elgin fire

Two people were treated for the effects of breathing in smoke following a "suspicious" fire in Elgin overnight.

Fire crews - who had to use breathing apparatus - tackled the blaze at the Geddes and Mellis electrical store in Commerce Street shortly after midnight.

Residents in nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.

A Grampian Police spokesperson said the premises suffered extensive damage and the fire was being treated as suspicious.
