Plan for Grampian fire cover change in Aberdeen raised

Grampian Fire and Rescue Service has proposed removing full-time fire cover from its station at Dyce in Aberdeen.

A new risk management plan to go before board members later this week shows there were 62 house fires in the area in a five-year period.

It is argued there is now a greater need for the full-time crew in the south of the city, at Altens.

Dyce would still have a retained crew and cover from full-time firefighters from North Anderson Drive and Kintore.

The brigade said the plan was not about saving money.

Subject to board agreement, the service will start a public consultation process on the draft proposals.
