Police in Aberdeen are trying to trace a driver seen running from the scene of a three car crash.

The accident happened on the Newhills to Kingswells road on Tuesday at 1700 GMT.

Officers said that a short time after the collision the driver of one of the cars made away from the scene on foot.

It is believed that several members of the public may have seen the man running away in the direction of the Newhills area.

Detectives said he asked several motorists for a lift into Aberdeen.

The driver was described as a largely built white male in his later 20s with short-cropped hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a white short-sleeve T-shirt with a Nike insignia.
