Woman airlifted after Aberdeenshire road crash

A woman has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a head-on crash in Aberdeenshire.

The two-vehicle collision happened on the A947, about three miles south of Turriff at the Birkenhills turn off, at about 1110 GMT.

Firefighters used cutting gear to free the woman and she was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance with head injuries.

A man hurt in the accident was also taken to hospital.
