Courier caught in Aberdeen with heroin worth £50,000

A drug courier was caught in Aberdeen with heroin with a street value of up to £50,000 after claiming he was a plumber heading for work from England.

Jodie Stanway, 30, from Wolverhampton, was caught in April last year after police received a tip-off.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard the car driver had been paid £40 plus expenses to take passenger Stanway north from the West Midlands.

He had been told Stanway was a plumber coming to Aberdeen for work.

Judge Lord Kinclaven deferred sentence until next month reports and remanded Stanway in custody.
