Woman killed in Stonehaven motorbike crash

A woman has died in hospital after her motorbike was in a collision with a 4x4 vehicle in Stonehaven.

Jennifer Chalmers, 53, of Farrochie Park, Stonehaven, was riding a scooter when the crash happened on Arduthie Road at its junction with Westfield Road at 1855 GMT on Tuesday.

A Grampian Police spokesman said she was taken to hospital in Aberdeen but died shortly after.

The driver of the Land Rover, a 49-year-old man from Angus, was not hurt.

The road was closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene.

Grampian Police appealed for witnesses to contact them or Crimestoppers.

Insp Ian Kirkwood said they would be carrying out house-to-house inquiries.
