Nick Nairn Aberdeenshire golf venue plan rejected

Plans for a major golf, housing and hotel development in Aberdeenshire have been rejected by councillors.

Developers had hoped to build the resort - including a Nick Nairn cook school - at Inchmarlo, near Banchory.

It had been recommended for refusal by planners, but got the backing last month of local councillors. However the full council rejected the proposal.

Chef Mr Nairn has featured on BBC programmes Ready Steady Cook and Landward.

Meanwhile, plans for a new prison at Peterhead were approved unanimously.
