A man who set fire to three business properties in the Orkney island of Sanday has been jailed for two years.

Leonard Cairns, 52, earlier admitted setting fire to a garage, a shop and a store shed at the village of Kettletoft in September.

Twenty-two people had to be moved to safety as a result.

Sentencing at Kirkwall Sheriff Court had been deferred earlier this month following a delay in the preparation of a psychiatric report.
