Mintlaw pedestrian killed in A952 car crash named

A pedestrian who was killed by a car while walking along a road in Aberdeenshire has been named by police.

Brian Begg, 42, of Mintlaw, was hit by the vehicle on the A952 Mintlaw to Toll of Birness road, about one mile south of Mintlaw, at 2150 BST on Sunday.

The 71-year-old car driver was uninjured and his passenger, a 70-year-old woman, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with slight injuries.

Grampian Police have appealed for more witnesses to come forward.

Insp Scott Mann, of the road policing unit, said they wanted to speak to people who saw a man walking on the A952 between 2100 BST and 2150 BST or were driving along the road at that time.

"We've interviewed a number of witnesses and I'd like to thank those who have contacted us with information," he added.
