A woman has denied assaulting Aberdeen City Council leader John Stewart in a pub.

Sally Farrer, 37, is alleged to have repeatedly punched Mr Stewart in the Kirkgate Bar, near the council headquarters, on 3 March.

She denied the charge at Aberdeen Justice of the Peace Court.

The accused - who was bailed on the condition she did not approach or contact Mr Stewart - is expected to appear in court again later this year.

The charge states that the leader of the local authority was left injured after the attack.
