Peterhead stabbing: Man jailed for attempted murder

A man who stabbed a friend in Peterhead has been jailed for seven years and nine months for attempted murder.

Simon Adamson, 23, attacked 21-year-old Thomas Rice in the town's Leask Avenue after an argument in September last year.

He was jailed at the High Court in Perth after being found guilty of attempted murder.

Lord Doherty told him: "It is only by good fortune that the injuries inflicted did not prove fatal."

The court heard that Adamson, whose address was given as Aberdeen Prison, and Mr Rice had both grown up in the Hollywood area of Belfast.
