The crew of a north-east-based trawler have been rescued after their boat started taking in water in the North Sea.

The Banff-registered Beryl got into difficulty about 25 miles (40km) north of Unst, Shetland, at about 1430 BST on Sunday.

Despite the efforts of the five-man crew to pump out the water, the trawler sank.

The crew were picked up by a nearby vessel, the Onward.
