Offshore worker flown to hospital after cable accident

An offshore worker has been airlifted to hospital with head injuries after being hit by a cable.

The incident happened on a vessel which was involved in drilling operations 100 miles east of Aberdeen.

He was flown to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, after bad weather prevented him from going to hospital in Aberdeen.

A coastguard spokesman said the worker could have received more serious injuries if he had not been wearing a hard hat.
