A man fighting his conviction for murdering his baby stepson in Aberdeenshire has been granted legal aid.

Mohammed Ullah was found guilty of murdering eight-month-old Kyle Mutch in Turriff in 2004.

At the High Court in Forfar, he was ordered to spend at least 13 years in prison.

Miscarriages of Justice Scotland, which is fighting the case, said Ullah planned to seek more medical reports.

Experts had described the baby's injuries as similar to those seen in car crash victims.

Ullah blamed his mother-in-law for the child's fatal injuries.
