Teenager jailed for raping 16-year-old girl in Dufftown

A teenager convicted of repeatedly raping a 16-year-old girl in a Moray town after meeting her for the first time has been jailed for five years.

Andrew Ewen, now 17, of Aberlour, was 15 when the incident happed in Dufftown in July, 2009.

Ewen claimed it was consensual, but was found guilty of rape.

Lord Pentland told the High Court in Edinburgh it was clear from the victim's evidence she made it clear she did not want to have sex with Ewen.

The judge said: "You showed no respect for her wishes or indeed her as a person.

"You have the advantage of a good family, a background denied to many who come before the courts, and it is extremely disappointing that you have let down your family and yourself so badly."
